The Return of the Champions League


The 2015/2016 round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League returns tonight with a mouth-watering encounter between Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea, while Benfica host Zenit Saint Petersburg in the other encounter.



PSG knocked out Chelsea in the same stage of the competition last season and will be hoping to account for the elimination of the Blues in this season competition.

Unlike last season, Chelsea are only beginning to rediscover their form after series of poor results which lead to the sack of Jose Mourinho while PSG has established an insurmountable lead at the top of Ligue one with her only defeat this season in all competitions coming against Real Madrid in the group stage.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
David Luis who contributed to the elimination of his former club last season will be hoping to repeat the tricks while Eden Hazard will be hoping to impress one of his ardent suitors with a telling display.

PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic will face Chelsea for the first time after calling the Blues players eleven babies after last season encounter, the Swede is in the form of his life with strike partner Edison Cavani and Angel Di Maria.

Chelsea Diego Costa, Pedro Rodriquez and Cesc Fabregas have rediscovered their form after Guus Hiddink replaced Jose Mourinho while Willian cant just stop scoring.

Nigeria's John Obi Mikel who has become a mainstay in the Chelsea midfield since the appointment of Guus Hiddink will be aiming to add to his 56 UEFA Champions League appearance in his race to surpass Nwankwo Kanu's 60 appearances in the competition which is the highest appearance by a Nigerian.

In the past, Chelsea is usually considered the favourite of this ties but how fast tide changes in football!

Also on Tuesday, Benfica host Zenit St Petersburg while Roma entertained Zinedine Zidane Real Madrid on Wednesday at the Olympic stadium in Rome.
