An inspired Lionel Messi responded to another penalty miss in style as Barcelona routed Getafe 6-0 at Camp Nou on Saturday to take another step towards defending their Liga title.

Barca were ahead after eight minutes when Juan Rodriguez fired past his own goalkeeper before Lionel Messi saw his weak penalty kept out three minutes later.
Munir El Haddadi converted a header before close range to double their advantage as Neymar then added his name to the scoresheet on 32 minutes. Messi added another eight minutes later.
Things didn’t get any easier for the visitors following the interval, Neymar doubling his tally five minutes after the restart before Arda Turan produced an acrobatic overhead kick three minutes before the hour mark.
