Barcelona were beaten 2-1 by Valencia at the Camp Nou and now only lead the Liga table on goal difference.

Defeats to Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and now Valencia has seen Atletico draw level with the Catalans at the top of the table, with Real Madrid just one point further back.

Lionel Messi finally broke his scoring drought to reach his 500th professional goal, but that personal achievement was overshadowed by another poor Barcelona display as they went down 2-1 to Valencia.

Messi, who was making his 525th appearance for Barcelona, has now scored an incredible 450 goals for the Liga champions, while he has a total of 50 for Argentina from his 107 caps for the national team.
